Apple keynote presentations create a buzz unlike any other, not just because of the pre-speech build up but also due to his on stage demeanour and presentation technique.
I've had a look around and found some interesting points regarding what makes a great presentation, the Steve Jobs way:
- Setting the theme
- Outlining
- Emphasis
- The 'unforgettable moment'
- Images>Text
- Ignore minor mishaps
- Benefits to the user rather than the product
- Practice
Many of these points were re affirmed in a lecture today:
- One idea per slide
- Reinforce the core message
- Create a thread throughout (Much like a comedian)
- Images>Text
- An introduction should be strategic and not technical
- Keep track of time, have a timer in view
- Rehears and repeat, goes without saying but not often done
- Answer questions succinctly and don't deviate (unless a politician)
- Concluding is not summarising
